Bird fauna: parrots and toucans of Argentina

Parrots and toucans

Several species of parrots and toucans can be seen in Argentina.

Toucan, Tucán (Ramphastidae)

The toucan may be recognized by its great red beak used as a pincer. It feeds on fruits, insects or small lizards. It is a tropical sedentary bird that lives in the parks of Misiones and Chaco.

Parrots, Loros (Psittacidae)

Parrots, small parakeet, and macaws are abundant in the Litoral region. Their color and size vary on different species but they all share the same curved beak used to hang themselves or eat seeds. Parrots are also characterized by their ability to reproduce human language.
